A History of Success...

...for more than 50 years

It was a great passion of Gerhard KOCH to build up efficient machines perfectly, when he took over Wächter & Co. in Bielefeld, North Rhine-Westphalia and began to specialise in general overhauling of machine tools and packaging machines. Shortly after that, he established the Gerhard Koch Maschinenfabrik in Bielefeld and made the first woodworking machines. He focussed on glueing and dowel insertion technology.

Together with the expansion of the production site in 1972 the authority of the company grew. Due to the innovative and high quality machine technology, KOCH managed to make their mark throughout the world. They are regarded as a specialist for sawing – drilling – milling – glueing – dowel insertion.

In 1982 a second production site was founded. It is located in Leopoldshoehe near Bielefeld. After substantial expansion, the production site in Bielefeld was closed and Leopoldshöhe was announced KOCH headquarters in 1993.

After the death of the company founder in 1994, his sons Eckart and Ruediger Koch took over the general management. The expansion is pursued continuously – a new showroom and production hall on the property are opened in 2000.

Consistent capitalization of the opportunities for growth.

A special quality of the company is the enduring inward and outward expansion due to strategic partners and business acquisitions, developing new markets and business areas.

The efforts in the North American market are increased by founding KOCH LP Machinery  + Systems in Atlanta, Georgia in 1986. The general manager Hans-Juergen Meier is importing high-value woodworking machines from Europe and distributes them including full service in the USA – also since 1998 from the new sales and service centre in Atlanta.

For the trading of used machinery the SG GmbH Lippe is established in 2002. It is recognised for its service on the international marketplace under the name of KOCH Resale.

In 2005 KOCH takes over LEHBRINK. Together with Hans-Juergen Burow is the new company LEHBRINK Spezialmaschinen GmbH, which is located on the factory premises continued. LEHBRINK is specialised in machinery for the door frame and door industry and is a reasonable addition to the production programme.

Since August 1st, 2010 the KOCH Group has a new member. The KOCH Technology GmbH & Co. KG is responsible for all sales activities. The system supplier for woodworking machines can offer all from one single source; from small individual solutions to complex production lines.
